Yesterday Venus opposed Jupiter, today Venus squares Neptune. The two aspects combined form a T-square. This aspect is super charged and potentially quite dynamic.⁣⁣

WATCH FOR: tendencies towards over-idealizing, daydreams and fantasies that actually block creative flow. Fantasizing might feel much more enjoyable than actualizing. Over-Idealizing comes at the cost of appreciating here and now. We can miss what’s right in front of us. ⁣⁣
SUGGESTION: don’t trip out. ⁣

WATCH FOR: High mental activity and tendency for distraction. The mind is open to new insight, intuition and creativity now. Trying to engage in tasks that require sharp focus on single issues is near-impossible. ⁣⁣
SUGGESTION: Dance and movement breaks every 30 min., deep breathing, meditation. Take the day off and make art instead. Orgasms will release and expand your energy, which in turn will calm your mind!⁣

WATCH FOR: Hyperbole, righteousness and fanaticism. This aspect can give a huge boost to opinions and conviction. ⁣
SUGGESTION: Be curious and friendly with others. Have a good sense of humor and use humor to shift perspective.⁣⁣

Saturn in Capricorn is in contact with all three planets. This brings a stabilizing influence and reality check. Taking time for objective observation and pragmatism yields excellent results and breakthroughs in understanding.⁣⁣

To work through your body, try out this practice. Create an anchor of stability in your central axis and core that extends earthwards and skywards. You can either stand and direct your central energy through your arms as a conduit for giving/receiving, or try jumping! Every time you land, practice grounding deeply and gathering support. Then push the ground away as you reach and jump. Let the movement provide a somatic sense of how you can propel your energy.⁣⁣

Cancer, as a symbol, represents reception, inclusion, nourishment, nurturing and care. It is associated with family and familial bonds. Cancer can be understood as a sensation of allegiance and belonging with home, tribe, community, culture, nation, or other groups with whom we share a sense of solidarity, familiarity and comfort. As we learn and grow through Cancer, we must navigate our boundaries, attachments and personal emotions. We are shaped through care, as well as lack of care. We learn to attend to sensitivities. We give our time and energy towards the nurturing of others and cultivate compassion and generosity of spirit. ⁣

In the body, Cancer rules the stomach, breasts/chest, pleura of the lungs, breast milk, tears and co-rules the womb with Scorpio. In these correspondences Cancer is a symbol of our earliest connections with sources of support, basic needs and emotional expression. ⁣

After yesterday’s Mercury/Mars conjunction in Cancer, both planets perfect their opposition to Pluto in Capricorn today.⁣

As astrological symbols: Mars = action/initiation, Mercury = mental state, Cancer = home/family, Pluto = Godxss of death and transformation, Capricorn = rules, traditions, governance. Opposition= confrontation.⁣
⁣
Pluto has a 248 year around the sun, spending about 20 years in each sign. As it travels through Capricorn, we must examine the foundations of legacy and tradition. What has integrity? What is, or was always, rotten at its core? We must reckon with rules. Structures must change.⁣

The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was when the United States was born as an ideology (at the signing of Declaration of Independence), when a small number of White, Christian, wealthy men decreed their freedom to be “self evident”, while simultaneously erasing the humanity and entitlement to freedom for non-white people, women, non-Christians and any others who deviated from their narrow view of who was made in the likeness of God.⁣

Mars/Mercury in Cancer (the sun sign of the US DOI) gives a rallying cry for accountability. There are plentiful voices speaking against the dominant mythology now. There are enough of us who want inclusion and acceptance, who want borders opened, prisons closed, new governance and new rules. In our bodies, Mercury rules the mind, words, gestures and functions of the nervous system that have to do with communication (reading signals, listening, responding etc.) Mars rules the arterial blood, muscles, and testosterone. Cancer rules the stomach, chests/breasts and womb.⁣

Saturn is the planetary ruler of Capricorn and Neptune is the ruler of Pisces. The energy of planets within their homes signs magnifies their influences. Saturn/Capricorn rules skin, teeth and skeleton. Neptune/Pisces rules interstitial fluids and the endocrine system as a whole, as well as the pineal gland specifically. ⁣

Today’s aspects stimulate these body parts and systems, and the state of being these systems govern. ⁣

Mercury conjunct Mars magnifies emotional perception and sensitivity. We may be quick to jump to conclusions if we “have a feeling” about something - especially if that feeling stimulates defense or protectiveness. This aspect also gives us courage to vocalize emotional needs and advocate for tenderness and boundaries.⁣

Saturn sextile Neptune can assist in setting, discerning and adapting boundaries. Intuition is supported by clarity and decisiveness. ⁣

FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS

Today’s full moon is conjunct with Jupiter, the planetary ruler of Sagittarius and astrological symbol of the Great Teacher or Guru. Jupiter works to expand our minds and open our perception. It guides us to reach into the unknown and stimulates our longing for Truth and Wisdom. .

This week, Jupiter is forming its 2nd of 3 squares with Neptune, and Neptune is receiving aspects from Saturn, Mercury, Mars and the South and North nodes (eclipse points.) This full moon brings us to the threshold of Cancer Season and the next retrograde cycles for Neptune and Mercury.

The astrological potential of today’s full moon and the surrounding weeks is vast. As we explore personal stories and the nature of mind (Sun in Gemini) the beliefs that have formed our minds become illuminated and held up for examination and question (Moon in Sagittarius). Examining, questioning and leaning into new perspectives requires us to work through what has previously been unconscious and invisible. Through this process we move through barriers in our intuition and access deeper spiritual support (Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Sagittarius and aspects from Saturn and Pluto.)

Feeling this today big. I’ve been estranged from my father for 25 years. We started talking again a little over a year ago and I had allowed myself to imagine that we would keep talking and maybe there was finally going to be a bridge. No. That was just an imagination. A few months ago my father told me I was the biggest disappointment of his life, that he was ashamed of me and had no need or desire for me in his life. This from a man who hasn’t known me since I was 10. Who doesn’t know or won’t let in how much I’ve loved him. Who can’t see the ways I carry his passion or interests and even many of his values.

I know it’s not about me. It’s about mental illness and personality disorders. It’s about victimhood and narcissism. It’s about trauma. It’s about shitty divorces and a culture that gives no resources for skillful relating across difference.
.
Happy Father’s Day to all of us who weren’t fathered. Everyone’s story is different, but absence is absence and that void is a big one. On this day when Mars (masculinity) opposes Saturn (fathers/patriarchy) I’m wishing love and healing for all of us. May we turn this pain into Presence. May we locate and integrate our own Inner Fathers and loving men. May we remember our wholeness. May our birth fathers and father figures be blessed and held wherever they are. May they be free from suffering and accountable to the suffering they’ve helped create. On some level- whether it’s subatomic or spiritual or just imagined, may we/they be reunited and resolved and remembered.
