You can listen to the guided meditation for this new moon here. This meditation focuses on releasing pent up energy from the "gates" of the body that are ruled by this full moon.

These horoscopes are written as affirmations. Affirmative thinking and speaking are a form of magic that works through magnetism. If your horoscope affirmation resonates with you, print it out and place it somewhere visible for the next two weeks. Repeat it to yourself often and notice how the magic works. I suggest reading horoscopes for both your sun and rising signs. If you’re interested in a more personalized approach to your astrology you can request a reading here.

The full moon this month is exact Thursday (April 21st) at 10:23PM Pacific time.

Sun at 2° Taurus opposite the Moon at 2° Scorpio. There are no major transits to this full moon, but notable planetary movement includes the rulers of Scorpio (Mars and Pluto) both retrograde as of earlier this week. The opposition, as an aspect, presents polarity. In this case the polarity is between the signs of Taurus (where the sun is currently) and Scorpio (where the moon is.) These two signs are part of what’s called ‘the fixed cross’, and together with Leo and Aquarius represent the times of year that are at the middle, or height of a season. Fixed energy is condensed, pressurized, and static. It holds the full force of the season and therefore these signs share qualities like stubbornness, the ability to focus, and a certain kind of deliberate nature that is distinctly certain of its own opinion.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the sun in Taurus is the middle of Spring. Taurus, ruled by the planet Venus, is a sign that brings abundance, fertility, and sensuality. Taurus loves to move slowly and savor the deliciousness of this season. Taurus is generally peaceful and resists intensity or elements that feel disruptive or sharp. This is a sign, and a season, meant for enjoying all that’s blossoming and starting to bear fruit. This is a sign, and season for lovers, for new life (cue all the cute baby animals now,) for relaxing a bit, starting to stay up later as the days get longer, and loving what life has to give, which in the springtime, is a lot.

In opposition to Taurus the sign of Scorpio is the middle of fall (in the Southern Hemisphere these seasons are switched and here we see that opposing signs are axes of expression, which each contain and reflect the other.) Scorpio, ruled by the planet Mars, is a sign that likes to bring up what most of would rather not, and therefore rules any subjects that are taboo. Scorpio is associated with sex, death, and the exchange of money. Scorpio is penetrative, intense, and exacting. This is a sign, and a season, that is deeply internal. Scorpio is fixed water, and water is emotion, so here we have intense feelings that take a long time to shift and that can be held onto, often past the point of usefulness.

Mars, the current ruler of Scorpio, and Pluto, the traditional ruler of Scorpio both station retrograde one day apart from each other and just days before this Full Moon (Mars stationed on the 17th and Pluto on the 18th.) The rulers of Scorpio both retrograde is a feeling of something that has been stirred up and excited and then driven underground. This could feel like pent-up energy, inward focus, and lots of sensitivity… If not in yourself then watch for this in others. Mars and Pluto (and this full moon) can be intensely impulsive and in retrograde aren’t moving at their best. Be careful, move slowly, and take lots of deep breaths.

This is also a time to be aware of your intuition. Scorpio rules the spidey sense and might be strongly activated right now. I’m not saying to believe that your intuition is true, but I’m not saying that it’s not either. Full moons often can reveal or provoke. This moon has a relationship to the new moon that occurred on April 7th, so watch for issues or things that began then that might become revealed or activated now. Listen to your intuition and if possible give yourself a few days before acting on it. Though Scorpio is intuitive it’s the curse/blessing of the fixed signs to not always see the other side, so be cautious of judging or overreacting.

In its positive light and most proactive power this moon can act like a psychic bath of sorts. We can use the energy now to release and catalyze change. This would be a great time to engage cathartic processes like shaking, dancing, screaming, singing, and clowning. If you have friends who will do this with you and/or a safe community space that can support this I’d recommend it because witness is also deeply healing for this moment. We can embrace the emotional intensity through presence and willingness to give and receive in consensual and caring ways.

Finally, embrace the sturdiness of Taurus by reminding yourself and others of the simple right to be. Enjoy your home, your surroundings, your food, and your body. Don’t let yourself get caught up in criticism or feelings of lack. Taurus reminds us that this Earth is abundant and has everything we need. Humanity’s constant craving is depleting, so be the change and practice contentment by wanting what you have.

The gates of the body (throat and genitals) are ruled by Taurus and Scorpio respectively. These areas tend to get tight and restricted when we are emotionally activated. Practice meditations, breathing, and sounding such as the one’s I lead in this week’s Embodied Astrology Guided Meditation (it’s free to listen!)

A grand trine in Earth between Pluto at 17°, Mercury at 21° Taurus, and Jupiter at 13° and the North Node at 21° of Virgo The change that is occurring and how it is coming into your consciousness now can start to stabilize and manifest. So much has shifted you probably can’t even tell where to start — your body, your mind, your feelings, your connections… There is a slowing feeling and a grounding. What has been so turbulent can now pause and begin to take root. Letting go of trauma and moving towards healing. But everything that happened had to, so forgiving, accepting, allowing, and moving forward with clear intention.
