About this workshop
As queer and trans people living in a time of increased fascism and violence towards our communities, we turn towards the ancestors from both the ancient and more recent past to guide us forward.
During the last Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 1989 we were 10 years into the AIDS crisis in the so-called US. Near the exact conjunctions that year was the time when the death toll reached 100,000. Creative practices centering and making visible queer BDSM subcultures began to be censored more heavily as fear and hatred of queer life surged.
We will look at some charts of queer ancestors who uplifted queer BDSM culture with their creative work and also died of AIDS during this time to feel for how their lives, experiences of struggle and deaths still impact us and may help us navigate this current moment.
Last session we learned about Dionysus and his band of maenads and who inspired several revolts against the repressive Roman state and who used initiatory experiences like sensory overload, deprivation, pain, and rhythmic movement to induce ecstatic trance states which supported breaking away from oppressive structures and remaining aligned with the feral and wild spirit of the land. Dionysus reminds us that collective kink and BDSM practices have been used in queer communities to transmute the violence of empire into deeper states of collective dignity and sustained defiance against harmful systems of power for many thousands of years. Kink and BDSM in queer communities play a similar role today.
In the session we will discuss personal and collective shame related to the AIDS epidemic and the very long legacy of violence against queer and trans people worldwide that continues to live in the collective today and how practices of BDSM and kink can support our personal and collective bodies to find greater states of healing and liberation.

Kim Calder (PhD/MFA) is a writer, creativity consultant, editor, and astrologer. They view astrology as a tool of both personal and collective liberation and emphasize somatic, psychological, ceremonial, narrative, and mythological approaches to chart work and creative processes. In readings and studio/editorial consultations, they seek to help clients navigate creative blocks that limit relational possibilities and prevent self-expression.
They are particularly drawn to astrology's capacity to expand our sense of connection with cosmic and earthly intelligences across lifetimes. At anaretic degrees,they write about creativity,theory, astrology, and activism.
Elly Higgins is a consulting astrologer and bodyworker invested in the lives and histories of queer art, culture, and activism through his project, Star Gays: The Queer Astrology Archives Project. He has presented on queer astrology for ISAR, the Astrologer's Co-Op, and The Astrology Podcast. Aziz Bisanz
As a queer, trans, and mixed-race person, inhabiting liminal spaces, borderlands and intersections of experience has deeply shaped me as a person and I bring this perspective to my astrological work. I have been studying astrology with Renee Sills and Embodied Astrology (EA) since 2021 and last year completed the Your Chart is a Body Certificate Program. Since my studies with EA, I continue to be involved organizationally and as a facilitator. I am currently offering this 10-month series revolving around the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries called "Saturn-Neptune and Initiating Spiritual Warriorship."
As an Arab-American (SWANA) person, the more ancient lineages of astrology live in my bones. I enjoy learning about Sumerian and Mesopotamian myths and stories that bring more depth to the more commonly known Roman and Greek myths. I am always seeking to reveal the understories of queer, trans and indigenous ways of being through astrological archetypes that help us make sense of our lived experiences, offer guidance for times we are living in, and simultaneously support our emergence into the future.

About this series
Embodied Astrology is an intuitive and empowering approach to astrology that begins in the body.
In this in-depth experiential practitioners’ program, you’ll learn to read, interpret and translate astrology’s symbolism through multisensory awareness; access and cultivate your embodied intuition; and communicate with those whose charts you read in ways that are meaningful, direct and relevant to their lived experiences.
Enrollment is limited so sufficient time and attention can be given to all topics, and intimacy can be cultivated both within the cohort, and between Renee and each participant.
Who this series is for
This course is specifically designed for bodyworkers and healers, therapists, physical performers/dancers/actors, and others who are interested in the intersections of astrology and somatics, and astrology’s application to other modalities.
Intermediate and advanced astrologers will gain somatic techniques and perspectives that will help deepen and integrate their practices, while beginning astrologers will appreciate an approach that leaves a majority of the math and complicated delineation rules behind and gives access to astrology through the immediate wisdom of the sensing body.

Embodied Astrology Pop-Up at Come ForeverSunday/Monday, August 9–10 | Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Join us for two days of embodied astrology, creative practice, and collective care at Come Forever in Brooklyn, NY. Nine astrologers, mystics, movers, makers, and diviners will offer a series of 30–90 minute workshops designed to help us meet this moment together through the wisdom of our bodies, relationships, and imaginations.
We’ll gather during Leo season, shortly after the lunar nodes have moved into Leo/Aquarius, and the Jupiter/Sun conjunction opposes Pluto in Aquarius. This time is ripe for amplifying questions of courage, creativity, belonging, and our responsibility to one another. With the Moon in Cancer over the course of our meeting days, and as we approach a transformative solar eclipse in Leo and lunar eclipse in Pisces, we're holding the passions of the season with tenderness, nourishment, and emotional presence.
Over the course of two days, explore poetry writing, storytelling, dancing, a lunar tea-tasting meditation, astro-sex-ed, cartomancy, collective care circles, a Wounded Healer Lounge, and a community altar for shared reflection and intention. On Monday, August 10, Renee Sills of Embodied Astrology will host a special live edition of her weekly Somatic Space class, offering an opportunity to experience embodied astrological practice in community.
As always, the work we do at EA is timed to meet the moment. On August 9, Mercury in Leo's square to Chiron invites honest expressions that open pathways for healing. On August 10, Venus in Libra's trine to Pluto in Aquarius encourages meaningful connection and collective transformation, while its opposition to Neptune in Aries asks us to show up with discernment, honesty, and our personal offerings to a larger collective cause. As Mars prepares to enter Cancer August 11, we’re gathering to strengthen the emotional resilience, creativity, and mutual care needed for the season ahead.

Saturn & Neptune in Aries & Dangerous Women
Dangerous Women: Eris & Other Legacies of Feminine Disrupters in Astrological Archetypes with Renee Sills and Aziz Bisanz
In this session Aziz Bisanz will be joined by Renee Sills for an exploration of “dangerous women” archetypes in astrology through the lens of the dwarf planet Eris and her long transit through Aries.
Since her discovery in 2005, Eris has carried an aura of controversy and disruption. Named for the Greek goddess of discord, Eris is often associated with conflict, agitation, outsider perspectives, and the destabilizing force of those who refuse exclusion or silence. Her discovery famously contributed to Pluto’s reclassification as a dwarf planet, symbolically linking Eris to themes of dethroning, decentralization, and the disruption of established orders.
In astrology, Eris has come to represent the archetypal energies that dominant cultures frequently fear and punish: unruly truth-telling, refusal of compliance, collective unrest, gendered projections, rage born from exclusion, and the catalytic power of those cast as threatening or “too much.” As Eris continues her decades-long journey through Aries—and as Neptune and Saturn move into Aries alongside her—the tensions between individuality, conflict, survival, embodiment, and resistance become increasingly amplified within both personal and collective life.
This session will weave together space science and astronomical context, mythic and astrological interpretation, embodiment practice, and personal reflection. Participants will be invited to contemplate Eris in their natal charts, explore the stories projected onto “dangerous women” across history and culture, and engage with the current collective moment through practices that support discernment, courage, relational awareness, and embodied presence.

Mythologies of Care: Chiron, Jupiter, and the Future of Belonging with Renee Sills & Aerin Fogel
Join Embodied Astrology founder Renee Sills and astrologer, core pattern, and tarot reader, Aerin Fogel for a live virtual solstice gathering on June 21, 2026, from 10am–12pm Pacific. Together, they’ll explore a potent astrological threshold shaped by the final days of Jupiter in Cancer, the Sun’s sextile to Chiron, and Chiron’s first ingress into Taurus after eight years in Aries.
This conversation will reflect on what it means to belong in times of profound cultural and personal transition. As Jupiter completes its year in Cancer and prepares to enter Leo on June 30, themes of home, family, nourishment, protection, and social inclusion come sharply into focus. Renee and Aerin will explore how vulnerability, shame, care, and inherited family dynamics shape our sense of belonging—and how these stories reverberate through collective life.
The event will also center Chiron’s movement into Taurus, beginning a new cycle around embodiment, security, survival, value, and relational healing. Drawing from mythic and psychological astrology, we’ll explore Chiron’s role as foster parent and guide to heroic figures such as Heracles, Achilles, Jason, and Asclepius, inviting reflection on forms of heroism rooted not in conquest or domination, but in tenderness, interdependence, and the protection of vulnerability.
Audience members will be invited to ask questions and join this intimate and thoughtful conversation weaving astrology, myth, culture, and lived experience during this year’s solstice season.
