About this series

In 2024, Neptune will hover at Pisces’ anaretic* degree (29º), signifying a time of dissolve and transition in a cycle that began in 2011.

In this creative astrology lab, we will explore the generational influences of Neptune and its associations with photography, visual art and the (un)shaping of reality through imagery and media.

Join us for this Neptunian journey, as we navigate the dissolution and re/shaping of reality and co-create a visual archive that transcends the boundaries of individual expression.

*Sometimes called a "critical" degree, the anaretic point is a symbol of intensity and completion carrying a sense of urgency and significance. Some astrologers believe that planets at this degree carry strong transformational potential and signal the need for resolution and transition into the next sign.

Overview

Together, we will explore how Neptune’s transit in Pisces affects our birth charts, as well as the generational significations of Neptune in each zodiac sign.

In our final session, we will gather the creative materials we’ve produced and compiled over the course of our sessions and make a collaborative zine!

Session topics include (subject to change):

  • What is Neptune? (Fabrication of reality & photography)

  • The myth of Neptune (dream lab)

  • Queer time (time as an illusion, time traveling, fabricated time)

  • Post truth + AI

  • Neptune in the birth chart

  • Generational aspects of Neptune

  • Exercises with photography of self (or another artistic medium of your choice) and seeing through it

  • Building a collective, printable zine

About Gabz 404

Gabz 404 (b. 1991) is Brazilian visual artist, self-taught photographer, researcher, activist, writer and astrologer who investigates how gender dissidences challenges and destabilizes the status quo. Elements such as (dis)identity, memory, community as healing, ecology, climate emergency, new technologies, artificial intelligence and the cosmos are present in their body of work. In 2020 they created "ser trans”, an ongoing visual storytelling project that represents and celebrates trans and non-binary people through photoshoots, interviews and videos. Gabz is the director of the feature "Intransitive: a documentary about trans stories" (2022). Currently, they research the implications of A.I. during the long-term transit of Pluto in Aquarius and how it contains information stored in the collective unconscious.

They held solo and participated in group exhibitions, festivals and conversations in Brazil, Germany, Portugal, United Kingdom and the United States. They published three zines from the "ser trans" project, the zine “free fal and a secret” and was nominated for the Açorianos Award for artist book publication. They participated in other collective publications.

As an astrologer, they do one-on-one readings to clients and occupy the position of Audiovisual Creative Director at Embodied Astrology, where they curate and edit images and videos. In 2022 they graduated in SomaSource Life Cycles Practitioner Training program by Golden Bridge (Boulder, CO, USA) and worked as an English-Portuguese translator in the same organization for two years.
